Rio Sidik was born and raised in the city of Surabaya in Java, Indonesia. Dariono – Rio’s Grandfather who was the leader of a Big Band was the inspirational figure who inducted Sidik into the world of music – training the young boy in jazz trumpet and improvisation techniques.

Some of Indonesia’s top musicians that Rio has performed with include Indra Lesmana, Buby Chen and Erwin Gutawa Orchestra. Armed with a talent for composition, Rio is the driving force behind one of Indonesia’s renowned world fusion unit – Saharadja. Other members in his quartet are Ito Kudhi (Bass), Erik Sondhy (Piano) and Edy Siswanto (Drums).
