Dos Orientales’ Appearance at The 12th Penang Island Jazz Festival 2015 is Supported By The Japan Foundation
A chance meeting between Japanese percussionist Tomohiro Yahiro and Uruguayan piano/keyboard/accordion player Hugo Fattoruso in 1985 led to a unique combination that saw them playing together for the first time in Japan in 1995. In 2007, they had their first tour in Japan as “Dos Orientales” and subsequently recording two albums which won best album awards in the ‘Premios Graffiti’ (Uruguay) category Jazz version in 2012 and 2014.
Individually, Tomohiro and Hugo have had long musical histories on touring and recording, Hugo with bands and musicians such as OPA, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Chico Buarque, Rey Tambor and Tomohiro with YosukeYamashita,
Shigeharu Mukai, Kazumi Watanabe, Kazutoki Umezu, Lisa Ono,
Minako Yoshida, Masashi Sada, and many others.
